Matrix Comics Volume 2
Shipping in November

Burlyman Comics has announced that it will release a second volume of comics based on The Matrix in November.  The 160-page full color trade paperback will have a cover price of $21.95 and will include material from the Matrix Web comics as well as new material created specifically for this volume.

The second volume of Matrix comics will include stories that have appeared on the Matrix Website, but none of the material in Vol. #2 has been in print before.

In addition, the second volume will contain several new stories, one of which takes place after the third Matrix film and includes many of the main characters from the film. Kaare Andrews, who provided the back cover image of Trinity for the first Matrix trade (and who is preparing a Neo design for Volume #2), will illustrate this groundbreaking story.  The first volume of Matrix Comics is available now at the Vault.

Strangers in Paradise--The DVD!
Debuting This Fall

Hero Video Productions has announced the fall 2004 release of Terry Moore: Paradise Found, a 2-hour DVD documentary about the life and work of Terry Moore, creator of one of the most popular independently-published comic book series in history, Strangers in Paradise.  The documentary includes an in-depth interview with Terry Moore, a narrated tour of his studio and his sketchbook, plus an examination of his previous careers as a musician and as a video editor.  Bonus features include Moore performing some of the songs that are featured in Strangers in Paradise.

Since its debut in 1993, Strangers in Paradise has developed a large and loyal following and this DVD documentary should have a strong appeal to devoted fans of the series. Terry Moore: Paradise Found  has an SRP of 24.99.

NBC/Universal Consider a Horror Channel

According to the Hollywood Reporter NBC and Universal are planning to create a cable network devoted to horror movies and TV series.  Universal, of course, has a vault filled with horror films featuring its "classic monsters" such as Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, and the Wolfman, while NBC/Universal's other cable networks, USA and the Sci Fi Channel are ideally suited to cross promote a new channel devoted to horror programming (USA has a Frankenstein mini-series coming out this year).  Of course the problem with launching a new cable channel is getting it on cable and satellite systems, but since NBC/Universal own the floundering Trio channel, it is quite possible that they could replace Trio with a horror channel.

Aeon Flux Filming Begins
In Germany

According to ComingSoon.net Paramount has begun shooting the live action Aeon Flux film, which stars Charlize Theron and Francis McDormand.  Based on the MTV anime-influenced cartoon series by Peter Chung, Aeon Flux is an intrigue filled-saga of revolution and betrayal set 1000 years in the future.  Shooting is slated to end in November, which means that the effects-laden science fiction film could see release in 2005.

There isn't much merchandise available for Aeon Flux at this time except for the DVD of Peter Chung's original animated series and a trade paperback from Dimensions, Aeon Flux: The Herodotus File, but the situation should change as the debut of the live action film draws nearer.

Michael Madsen in 'BLOODRAYNE' Movie
Comic Debuts in December

According to the Hollywood Reporter Michael Madsen (Kill Bill) is joining Ben Kingsley (Ghandi), Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast and the Furious), and Kristina Loken (Terminator 3) in Uwe Boll's(House of the Dead) horror film based on Majesco's overlooked but excellent BLOODRAYNE video game.  The $50 million dollar production is set to get underway in Romania and the film is on track for a 2005 release.

Meanwhile Digital Webbing is launching a BLOODRAYNE comic book series in December.  Steven O'Connell and Jeffrey Stephenson are co-writing the comic with Romano Molenaar (Lady Death) providing the art.  The character of BloodRayne, a half-vampire, half-human "Dhampir" provides an interesting twist on the vampire genre.
