Join us in the 3rd floor event space of Vault of Midnight Ann Arbor on Saturday July 11th at 7pm for the opening reception.
The 3rd floor event space of the Vault Ann Arbor Building will host an art show featuring original comic book art from a cadre of the industry's most exciting voices. The space will transform into a gallery filled with original pages of comic book art. This opening reception will feature drinks, snacks and jams to accompany this one of a kind event.

Athenaeum Comic Art is a boutique art representation group dedicated to showcasing acclaimed and emerging voices in the independent and literary comics scene. Founded to bridge the gap between creators and collectors, it specializes in original comic art sales, offering fans and institutions access to unique pieces from award-winning graphic novels and influential works. Athenaeum proudly operates in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
FEATURED ARTISTS
Alison Bechdel is an acclaimed cartoonist and graphic memoirist best known for Dykes to Watch Out For and the groundbreaking graphic memoir Fun Home. A recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship and multiple Eisner Awards, Bechdel helped redefine the literary potential of comics through deeply personal explorations of identity, family, and queer life.
Nate Powell is an award-winning cartoonist known for expressive black-and-white artwork and emotionally resonant storytelling. He is widely recognized as the illustrator of the Eisner Award-winning and National Book Award-winning March trilogy, created with John Lewis and Andrew Aydin.
Tillie Walden is an award-winning cartoonist known for atmospheric storytelling and emotionally rich graphic novels including Spinning, On a Sunbeam, and Are You Listening?. One of the youngest creators ever to win an Eisner Award, Walden has also received multiple Ignatz Awards for her contributions to contemporary comics.
Noah Van Sciver is an influential cartoonist known for autobiographical comics, historical narratives, and sharply observed portraits of everyday life. His acclaimed works, including Fante Bukowski and Joseph Smith and the Mormons, have earned multiple Ignatz Award nominations and widespread recognition within independent comics.
Caroline Cash is a cartoonist and illustrator whose work combines raw emotional honesty, kinetic cartooning, and a distinctive punk-inspired aesthetic. Best known for her acclaimed graphic novel PeePee PooPoo, Cash is an Eisner Award winner (2024) and an Ignatz Award winner, and she has quickly emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary indie comics.
